What is South Cerney gravel?

South Cerney Gravel is a soft rounded oolitic limestone. It is a cream / buff / yellow / beige even coloured gravel and one of the most popular decorative gravels available.

What size is South Cerney gravel?

This is a 4-10mm South Cerney. It is also available in a 10-20mm and a 20-40mm

Where to use South Cerney.

It's primarily used for decorative purposes such as paths, walk ways and drive ways. It is a rounded gravel and softer material than flint and other limestone gravel. This makes it a good decorative gravel for horses and other animals to walk on or over. It compliments red brick houses very well and works as a lovely complimentary colour to dark grey edging stones / slabs

Extra information.

Being an oolitic limestone it is a softer more porous gravel than some. Over time it breaks down and slowly binds together some people love this rustic effect others aren't a fan and top it up regularly more regularly than other flint based materials. Where it is porous it can also turn green / black in damp & low light areas.

Other Names

South Cerney stone is also known as Thames Beige and Oxford Stone and it sometimes incorrectly referred to as Cotswold stone.
